Pawley's Island real estate is located in Georgetown County in South Carolina along the Atlantic Coast Barrier Island. Pawley's Island is a very small bedroom community with only a population of about 138 people as of the 2000 census. It is one of the oldest resort areas on the East Coast. Although it is a small community, there are a few schools including Waccamaw High School, Waccamaw Middle School and Waccamay Elementary School as well as a few private schools in the area.
